Maybe it's the first cow of the 2011 season. Either way, I was happy to be helping on an elk hunt. Although I wasn't able to participate in the hunt, I did show up in time to help skin and pack out this beautiful young cow. Jimmy made a fine heart shot at over 300 yards. This cow will eat great this winter and summer, and I'm fortunate to have been given a few nice chunks of meat as a thank you. We made quick work of the cow using our Havalon knives and my Outdoorsman's pack carried a ham and shoulder with ease. Living off the land and sharing experiences with good friends are reasons why I'm an elk hunter. Nice work Jimmy!
