Green River Cicada Hatch Flyfishing 6.24.14

With our waters in the Roaring Fork Valley still just a touch high, my friends MJ, Jack and I headed to the Green river below Flaming Gorge Reservoir.  The rumor on the street was the Cicada hatch was in full swing and the flows had come down.  We fished for 2.5 days and it was unreal!  The guys fished Cicadas all day and caught some unbelievable fish.  My hands and arms are a bit sore after working the oars but it was an amazing trip.  I took a ton of photos of the beautiful fish and the historic canyon.  The takes were explosive on the surface and often came with a loud splash!  I will be posting several days worth of photos over the next few days.  The Green Drakes and awesome caddis hatches are just around the corner and the fishing in Colorado is about to get real good.  Check out the awesome reminder of God's creation in the sunset below.

Summer Scouting Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep I

Summer in Arizona means hot temperatures and rutting Desert Bighorn.  It is amazing to see these sheep running around in extreme heat like it doesn't even phase them.  We have been doing quite a bit of scouting for these awesome animals during May and June and the anticipation for the rutting season is increasing with each day.  Rams seem to come out of the woodwork this time of year.  Colburn and Scott Outfitters guide, Darr Colburn, has been capturing some great video and photos of some of these rams.  We are excited for the upcoming sheep season this fall!  Make sure to get your name in the hat for the Arizona Super Big Game Raffle Desert Sheep permit because the drawing is coming soon.  Check out the sweet video footage below captured by Darr Colburn in June 2014 of some rams butting heads as they prepare for the rut.

In 2013, Claude Warren purchased one ticket in the raffle and his name was drawn!  He hired Colburn and Scott Outfitters and harvested the largest Nelsoni Desert Sheep in the State of Arizona's history!  Buy your tickets and this could be you!

6/23/14 Colorado Fishing Report

The rivers are finally starting to clear and they seem to dropping daily.  The water level in the Eagle and the Roaring Fork are still high but great days are just around the corner.  Starting to see some caddis in the evenings and the adult green drake hatch is on its way soon.
