Growing Grass
We have been doing some turkey hunting and elk scouting over the last couple of weeks. The grass is sure coming good and the wildflowers are out in style!

Shed Hunting
Jennifer, Mudd and I got in a short shed hunting loop this evening. We managed to luck into a few antlers and also got in a great spring workout! My quads were definitely feeling the vertical. It was good to hike with the pack on and continue breaking in my new Lowa Tibet GTX's, which by the way are feeling great. They seem to be lighter than my old pair and have a roomier toe box. Both features I crave!

Good Eatin'
Jeanne and I cooked up the turkey that I harvested last week. We fried one side of the breast and Jeanne whipped up a turkey marsala with the other breast. It was sure tasty tonight!
Tasty Stuff!

Mountain Merriam Down
I absolutely love spring turkey hunting! I love scouting for them as well as hunting them. I love to hunt the mountain country for Merriams turkeys, it is just like hunting elk. There is so much strategy that goes into a successful hunt. They always seem to humble me no matter how much I hunt them. I was fortunate to get this nice bird. Enjoy the pics!
Found some great sign while scouting
Turkey droppings can be a very good sign
Saw these three gobblers while scouting
Their were some awesome windmills that were not operating and just laying on the ground
These three deer were like statues and never moved while their photo was taken
Roosted these two strutters the first evening and was able to get these great photos
Bird down!! He is a 2 1/2 year old bird that had a nice tail fan but had fairly short spurs which usually indicates a young bird. I used the new Primos Bi Pod and loved it!!
I used my box and slate calls that were given to me by my late friend Mr. Marvin Robbins of Timberline Calls
