Our hunter, Larry Spillers, arrives today and we are excited to get this hunt underway. The wind has been howling all night but it seems to just be a one day storm. We are still in search for the right ram but the journey has been great so far. One observation we have noted about Nelsoni desert sheep is that they seldom are anywhere other than at the tallest peaks. Unlike Mexicana's who can often times be found in the "bajadas" or right at where the mountain and desert floor meet. For this hunt we cannot hunt statewide like most raffle tags but have to stick in units 9/10, 12, 13, 15, 16. Those units are made up primarily of Nelsons. We have spent many nights out on our cots but have a great basecamp with our dear friends Fred and Mary Ashurst in Unit 15D. They have been gracious hosts and it is always fun to spend time with them. From the deserts of NW Arizona in search of a great ram Colburn and Scott Outfitters signing out until next time...
