AZ Gould's Turkey Scouting Pics

By Darr Colburn

Parker and I went down to Southern AZ to do some scouting for my Gould's turkey hunt in a few weeks.  We arrived mid afternoon and found a nice gobbler with hens at our first stop.  We soon heard our first gobble of the season.  We headed off to another spot and found a group of jakes.  I let Parker do some calling with his new diaphragm that he got at the Desert Christian Archers turkey seminar.  Parker was able to call in the jakes to about 40 yards.  The jakes gobbled several times.  Parker was excited that the birds answered his calling and came in.  He is hooked on calling and commented that this is how turkey hunting should be.  We ended up seeing several gobblers and found some good spots to hunt.  We had a great time and are looking forward to turkey season.  Parker has a juniors tag in two weeks and my hunt starts the weekend after.  We will be busy chasing gobbles in a couple weeks.

We slept out on cots under the stars.  Temps were in the 30's

Our good friend Tyler Hall joined us on Sunday
