I took this video with my point and shoot camera while scouting for an elk hunt. The bull came within 5 yards of where I was glassing from.

Ryan Eustice got his monster Coues deer scored by Amanda Moors of Coueswhitetail.com today at the ISE show. For other photos of the buck click here. The buck ended up officially scoring 135 2/8 Non Typical NET and grossed 140 2/8. Congrats to Ryan Eustice on a fantastic buck of a lifetime! I had the pleasure of watching Amanda score the buck and I learned a couple of scoring tips as well.

Weatherby. We were joined by Dan's brother, dad and my brother Kirk. Kirk just purchased a .257 Weatherby from the Outdoorsmans so it was a perfect excuse to join us. We shot for a couple of hours before the winds came up. Dan brought a gong made out of 1/2 inch steel that measures 12 inches tall by 18 inches wide (about the size of a deer body). We put the gong out at 695 yards. It did not take long before we were hitting the gong almost every shot. This is great practive to see what your gun will do at long range. I look forward to tweeking the loads and seeing which one I like the best. I am shooting the Nosler 110 Grain Accubond bullets. Most of the loads were going 3450-3500fps. I love shooting the .257 Weatherby because it shoots flat and hits hard.
The Outdoorsmans Ballistic Turret was amazing for shooting long range.

Darr and I had seen this ram in Unit 44B North that we nicknamed Tippy several times over the 2009, 2010 and 2011 sheep scouting and hunting seasons. These first pics were captured on 10/26/10 prior to Ron Arndorfer's Hunt. Tippy continued to grow and then was harvested in December of 2011 by hunter Brad Reily of Yuma. Tippy was checked out by the Arizona Game and fish at 171 6/8. Congrats to Brad on a great ram!

I picked up a couple of these little Pelican 1910 LED lights at the Safari Club show in Vegas last weekend. The flash lights measure 3 1/2 inches in length and weigh just a few ounces. The lights run on 1 AAA battery and are very bright (39 Lumens). The run time for the light is 1 hour on the AAA battery. The lights have an anodized aluminum body, removable clip and an on/off/momentary switch. These lights seam like the perfect partner/backup light to the headlamp I carry in my pack. One thing I have learned the hard way is to put the battery in backwards when you are not using the light and it is in your pack. Putting the batteries in backwards prevents your light from getting turned on in your pack and running out the battery.
